Duke is a real talent!Another star is coming up and he could be in the top 5 of this year’s NBA draft
According to a new mock draft prediction report released Wednesday by Bleachers, Duke university’s A.J.Griffin is projected to be the no. 6 pick in the first round, while ESPN’s Schmitz is even bolder in predicting a top-5 pick.A.J. Griffin was born in Ossining, New York, to a family of athletes. His mother, Audrey, played track and field at Westside University, while his father, Adrian, was an All-American track and field athlete at Westside University before going to the NBA, where he is now an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors.A.J. Griffin’s sister, Aubrey Griffin, plays for the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team, and his brother, Allen, plays in the NBA’s DEVELOPMENT League.A.J. Griffin, who turns 19 in August, is a promising shooting guard with a 5-foot-6 wingspan and 100 kilograms. He demonstrated exceptional shooting skills in high school, hitting 22 consecutive 3-pointers in a shooting contest as an eighth grade student at Ossining High School. However, Griffin struggled with knee and back injuries throughout high school. He played just 12 games as a senior and didn’t play at all last season during the pandemic; He sat out again in October with a sprained knee, but returned in the opener of the Championship Classic against Kentucky and had two points and two rebounds in 11 minutes.Griffin is averaging 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game at Duke while shooting 52 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range. He is the only PLAYER in the NCAA to shoot more than 50 percent from 3-point range on 55 or more attempts.Griffin scored 15 points on 5-of-9 3-pointers in a win over Syracuse on Jan. 22, and last week against The University of Louisville, he shot from the perimeter and scored 22 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including a long-range 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer.Although A.J. Griffin’s projected NBA draft pick dropped slightly due to persistent injuries in high school, things seem to be going right for him.His parents and everyone around him have helped him a lot, and he has personally trained very hard and remained humble.”He’s a rising star,” Coach K said of A.J. after the louisville win.Griffin said.”He’s not just a good player, he’s a rising star and we all know that.”Duke has multiple talented players with the opportunity to enter the 2022 NBA draft. They include highly touted freshman Paul Bancello, projected to be a top three pick, sophomore center Mark Williams and junior wing Wendell Moore, both projected to be picked late in the first round as they try to help Coach K win his sixth NCAA title.Where do you think A.J. Griffin will be selected in this year’s draft?
