As living standards improve, our demand for imported cattle and sheep is growing, but there are risks behind the delicious taste.If there are sick animals and dead animals in imported cattle and sheep, how to deal with them?What can be done to ensure that the disease germs carried by sick and dead animals are not transmitted?In order to ensure the convenience of customs clearance, scientific supervision and strict prevention of the spread of animal epidemics, the General Administration of Customs has comprehensively combed the Requirements on The Construction of Designated Isolation Grounds for Imported Cattle and Sheep (SN/T4233-2015).On November 22, 2021, the Code for Construction of Designated Quarantine Sites for Entering Cattle and Sheep (SN/T 4233-2021) (hereinafter referred to as the Code) was issued.Here we will look at the equipment requirements and harmless treatment of the sick and dead livestock isolation area.· What are the precautions for facility construction?(1) The outer wall.The designated quarantine site must be surrounded by a solid wall of no less than 2 meters to effectively isolate itself from the outside world.If it is difficult to build solid walls in mountainous areas with complex terrain, physical fences and other isolation facilities should be built around the site to prevent rodents and other animals from entering and leaving.The fence shall be installed vertically, in close contact with the ground, with a height of no less than 2 meters, and shall be firmly fixed by metal columns with a diameter of no less than 10 centimeters and a spacing of no more than 2 meters;The diameter of the metal mesh shall be no less than 3 mm, and the mesh shall be no more than 12 x 12 mm.(2) Quarantined areas for sick livestock.A sick animal isolation room shall be set up in the sick animal isolation area, which shall be no less than 1% of the maximum number of animals that can be isolated in the quarantine site. The sick animal isolation room shall be relatively closed, the ground shall be anti-slip and anti-leakage, and it shall be easy to clean and disinfect, and effective and complete facilities and equipment for diagnosis and treatment shall be set up (such as securing frame, securing rope, stethoscope, thermometer, etc.).(3) areas for harmless treatment of diseased and quarantinable livestock.The disease-free treatment area for dead and epidemic animals should be close to the disease-free animal isolation area, relatively independent, walled isolation, harmless treatment facilities, and disinfection facilities at entrances and exits.Harmless treatment capacity shall meet the following requirements: Burial pit: no less than 0.8% of cattle x approved animal capacity x 1.8 square meters;Sheep not less than 1.5% x approved animal capacity x 0.4 square meters.Or cellars: not less than 0.8% of cattle × approved animal capacity ×1.3/0.75 cubic meters;Sheep not less than 1.5% x approved animal capacity x 0.4/0.75 m3.Or incineration and chemical processing capacity of not less than 2000 kg.Or the unit using the isolation and quarantine site designated to sign an effective agreement with a qualified site for harmless treatment of sick and dead livestock, and transport and dispose of sick and dead livestock in accordance with relevant provisions.Harmless treatment facilities should meet the relevant requirements of “Technical Specifications for Harmless Treatment of Sick, Dead and diseased Animals”.(4) Other facilities.Video surveillance equipment that can be clearly recorded should be equipped to keep video data for at least 3 months during quarantine.Include the following areas: entrances and exits, the fence isolation field corners, animals, the discharge area (ball machine and the bolt at least 1), shower, entry and exit quarantine disinfection channel feeding area at each end (each breeding shed 1 the bolt, the middle ball machine 1), disease with isolation, dead livestock disposal area, forage feed storage area, fecal sewage treatment area, etc.There shall be anti-rodent and anti-bird facilities, and there shall be effective anti-insect facilities in the season or area where insect vectors are active.The site should be equipped with mobile disinfection equipment.The designated quarantine site shall have necessary water supply, and the water quality shall conform to the sanitary standard of GB5749.Equipped with heating, cooling equipment.The site should be equipped with fire fighting equipment.The site shall have effective power supply facilities and be equipped with backup power generation equipment.· What are the requirements of the management system?In addition to meeting the requirements of the site, should also establish the following systems: complete epidemic prevention, disinfection system;Training system on physical examination, epidemic prevention and personal protection for personnel in quarantine and quarantine sites;Anti-rodent, anti-bird, anti-insect and other biological safety guarantee system;Waste, excrement, sewage prevention and harmless treatment system;Feeding management system;Registration and management system for the entry and exit of personnel, vehicles and articles (such as disinfectants, forage grass, fodder, bedding grass, bedding materials, medicines, protective articles and daily necessities);Daily supervision system of isolation yard;Fire prevention, anti-theft and other security systems and measures;Emergency response system.Source: China Door Times (cover image from online)
