Nine major cultural industries, including news and information services, content creation and production, creative design services and cultural communication channels, saw double-digit growth in revenue in 2021 compared with the previous year, with those in cultural communication channels recording the highest growth of 20.7 percent, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.Statistics show that, mainly due to the impact of the epidemic, the revenue of cultural, entertainment and leisure services in 2021 increased by 18.1% compared with the previous year, but decreased by 17.5% compared with 2019.According to statistics, the cultural industry as a whole recovered well in 2021.The operating revenue of cultural and related enterprises above designated size reached 11.09064 trillion yuan, an increase of 16 percent over the previous year.The two-year average growth was 8.9 percent.The development of new business forms enjoys strong momentum.In 2021, 16 industry subcategories with obvious features of new forms of digital culture achieved operating revenue of 3,962.3 billion yuan, up 18.9 percent over the previous year.The two-year average was 20.5 percent.”In 2022, China’s modern cultural industry system will continue to be improved, the quality of cultural products will be steadily improved, the overall trend of cultural consumption market will be active, the development of cultural market players will be further enhanced, and the scale of the cultural industry is expected to continue to grow.”Said Zhang Peng, senior statistician at the National Bureau of Statistics.(Reporter Wei Yukun)
